Richard Williams breaks silence on 'Will Smith' controversy at the Oscars: I could never criticize him.
Serena Williams' father, Richard Williams, had nothing but good words for Will Smith even though his Oscar success undermined the success of his biopic King Richard.
The former American tennis coach thinks the Liberation actor should be allowed to keep his Oscar for the hard work he put in on the movie.
Although Williams has condemned the violence, he said he would not judge Smith, who played himself in the 2021 biographical sports drama, for his mistake.
“I think whatever he wants (he will) do, that’s what he has to do,” Richard told The Sun, “People will think what they want to think.”
